- The Greens have a very real prospect of winning this seat and beating the Tories.
- With Labour in melt down only the Greens can take the seat.
- Since the last time this seat was contested in 2007, the Green vote has grown even more.
- We beat all the other parties across the whole of Brighton and Hove in June's Euro poll, taking a massive 31.4% or 19,727 votes (see graph). 6,000 votes ahead of the Tories.
- Our vote has also went up in the by-election in neighbouring Regency ward, with a swing 3.4% from the Tories to the Green.
- This bodes well for taking the seat and explains why even Labour activists are switiching their support.
Brighton Labour commentators also are arguing for people to vote Green in Goldsmid:
"[Green] candidate, Alex Phillips, is very engaging, energetic, and enjoys the enthusiastic support of her local party ... the recommendation of this blog is for all Labour and Lib Dems to vote for Alex Phillips on the 23rd July." (Brighton Politics Blog)
"Already Green are a powerful force on the city council with 12 seats. If they win this one, they will be equal with Labour...Greens could gain a sizeable number of votes in Hove...I have a feeling their moment may have arrived..." (The Argus)
